The Ellinnet Cake Collection Closes out Art Basel week with DJ Khaled & Nicole Tuck

What a way to close out Art Basel. This celebration will be a memorable one. The details, the entertainment, The lighting was breathtaking. Perez Art Museum Miami provided a stunning canvas to bring out all the details. Kathy Romero and Haute Living did their thing!

I was honored to be part of an event with such talented artist!

The inspiration for the cake was Graffiti. I decided to create airbrushed portraits surrounded by abstract hand painted art to frame the faces. Javier Soto killed it with the air brush technique!

I then added Glass Sugar to represent the illusion of acrylic and airbrush paint splatted in the air.

Javier Valentino’s floral design really set the stage for the run way and this stunning table setting!

Ezinma killed it on the violin with her Hip Hop inspired performance. The backdrop really had her stand out.

The entire event was art inspired. The floral, entertainment, cake and fashion show were all designed with an art feel. I was honored to be a part of this one!

Feliz Semper provided the most amazing interpretation of Biggie Smalls in Paper!

There was a vibe and energy that can’t be explained in words. It was an honor to celebrate with some of the best in the industry! I’m grateful  to do what I love and to be able to live while I work. Most of all, to provide a memory for years to come!

Happy Birthday DJ Khaled & Nicole Tuck Thank you for celebrating with The Ellinnet Cake Collection!

THE PRETTY BALLERINA

There’s nothing like pink ruffles, and tulle to scream out “delicate and dainty” for perfectly pretty party. At our consultation, my client mentioned she wanted a dreamy feel, something soft and delicate “a ballerina inspired theme” is what she envisioned. She wanted me to create the invitations and the cake. I was so excited, I love girly themes!

I designed Ballerina invitations for this client but to be completely honest, I include a design I created for prior event. They were my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ballerina invitations. These Invitations were beautiful!

Dainty is the perfect word for these beauties. They were 3 3/4 inches in height and dressed with pearls, diamonds and tulle, if that doesn’t scream “BABY GIRL” I don’t know what does! They were beautifully boxed and wrapped in a millennial pink tissue paper. I emphasize millennial pink because its my favorite tone of pink. This tone has a mix of grey. You would be surprised but I am not a fan of pink. I love natural tones and deeper colors, gray, cream, blacks, whites. Millennial is a mix of all these colors. There’s a very natural tone in this pink.

The invitations were a hit and would’ve paired perfectly with this cake.

The ruffles on this ballerina cake were amazing. They were so delicate, paper thin. SO much so, that you could see right through each frill. I tinted this cake with an ombre technique using edible pedal dust. The beautiful tones of purples, greens, and pinks in the balloons really made the cake stand out on the sweets table. It was the center piece, the main attraction.

The detail in the ballerina shoe was everything. There are molds on the market to create a shoe but I really wanted this one to be life like.

The importance of a ballerina shoe is its anatomy.

The platform, the vamp, the wind, the shank, the stitching of the insole down to the drawstring casting was captured in the detail of this sugar sculpture.

This sugar shoe was hand sculpted, to capture all the detail important to every ballerina. It was one I was extremely proud of.

When I design a cake, I design it so that it is one you will always remember and treasure in your heart.

This was the happiest of birthdays for this ballerina.

Choosing a theme for your event that’s unique and leaves a lasting impression.

Choosing a theme is one of the hardest things to do when planning a party. Many of us want to plan a celebration that’s gorgeous, unique and leaves a lasting impression on our family and friends for years to come.

There are resources at our finger tips today such as:  Pinterest, Instagram, and event magazines.  Social media pages full of hashtags and inspiration photos make it tempting to see something we love and duplicate it.  It’s effortless to design a party these days, but if your goal is to create one that’s unique to you and your guest of honor, you will have to get your creative juices flowing, or hire an expert. In this blog I talk about how to choose a common theme you love and make it yours.

The Ellinnet Cake Collection is a custom cake and social stationary boutique, Our focus it to design custom cakes and sweets that compliment your event and theme of choice. I designed this whole event because it was my sons party. This was an elegant and fun event for me to do, and I can’t wait to share it with you.

I wanted to design a jungle theme for this event but of course, NOT one that looks like everyone else’s party. I used the Gucci spring 2017 campaign designed by Alessandro Michelle for inspiration. This was a gorgeous campaign:  Greens, Yellows, Orange, Browns, Blacks and touches of golds.  The colors were vibrant, bright and rich. They were perfect for this celebration.

I started with the venue.  The venue is extremely important when designing a party. If you choose a venue that compliments your theme, there’s very little you have to do.  When the walls and venue décor add to the overall design all you have to worry about are the tables and sweet table details.

Sabor Latino in Edgewater was perfect,  Its space was designed with brick walls and lots of green leaf plants, wooden tables and deep colors throughout the space were gorgeous! The food was amazing. Latin american cuisine was the choice for my family.

The wooden back drops were perfect for the sweets table. they were engraved with elephants and monkeys, all sorts of wild animals and trees.

Everything had a jungle detail with leaves  engraved in the hardware of the chairs and stair cases. There were even leaves engraved in the lamps throughout the restaurant.

I decided then to go deep in the colors with the sweets table. I created the cake with a matte black canvas and touches of gold.

I hand painted jungle animals like zebras, elephants, bamboo leafs and giraffes on vanilla sugar cookies and personalized them for each child.  They were amazing and left the guest excited to eat. They added beautiful artistic detail and were surrounded by moss for the perfect POP of color.

The pudding cups and gold wrapping added the bright touch of yellow and gold that the table need to give the rest of the sweets the attention they deserved. The sweets were delicious. The flavor of the cake was our Chocolate black out cake filled with rich chocolate ganache.

When we design our tables we try to make sure we choose a flavor that compliments the theme so that your guest get that FULL experience.

The tables were decorated with gorgeous jungle colors. The yellows and oranges and greens in the flower arrangements,  not only added a beautiful addition to the design but gave the feeling of joy throughout the party.

One perfect way to tell your guest how special it is to have them join you in celebrating  whatever the occasion, is with something personalized. So I decided to add a natural leaf on each place setting. This was special for all the guest, it left a lasting impression with each and everyone of them. We often encourage personalized sweets for our tables and usually include them in our sweets designs.

Every event should be meaningful and well designed. In the end all you have is pictures and a beautiful family memory for years to come!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Hey everyone! Welcome back to Tuesday’s with Tennille and happy almost Halloween! I’m super excited to share these wicked cupcakes,  spooky headstones, and freaky skull Halloween cookies with you, all as well as some awesome techniques.

Last year I had the pleasure of creating eerie fondant covered vanilla butter sugar cookies. I personally hand painted and pedal dusted each cookie to give it a dirty, deathly finish that everyone loves for Halloween! Additionally, I added crosses and the cutest R.I.P sign to give it that little extra frightening detail. I paired it with the skull cookie you see below.

I was able to pair some of the cookies with metallic silver accents on the skulls giving the cookie an extra terrifying POP! I placed them with a casket shaped cookie and surrounded them in crushed vanilla wafers to give it the illusion of a fresh grave!

These spooky cookies look great with all Halloween colors. Whether it’s orange, black, silver, or any other deep dark color scheme tone. They are a great addition to any Halloween event and would make as unbeatable scary table fillers!

As for these delicious chocolate vampire inspired cupcakes that were topped with a silky cream cheese frosting and a velvet apple cupcake toppers, filled with strawberry preserve perfect for that scrumptious first bite allowing the filling to ooze out giving the terrifying illusion of blood. Finally, I finished it off with the cutest Halloween message for extra detail.

I hope you enjoyed these treats as much as we enjoyed making them! Stay tuned for project updates and delicious treats. If you liked this post click in the link below to stay connected!

ASAHD TURNS 2!

I was blown away when I received the call for the opportunity to conceptualize Asahd’s birthday cake. Like most, I am a huge fan of DJ Khaled’s work. I respect his artistry and admire the high standards he sets for fatherhood in the hip hop community.
ASAHD
Renowned event planner, Kathy Romero of Kathy Romero Events, provided simple details about  the venue, concept, servings and color scheme. The event color scheme was set to be navy blue, white, red, and gold. And for 500 people! Yes, 500 people at Marlin’s Stadium in Miami!
KATHY ROMERO
I had to come up with a cake that fell in line with Romero’s Circus Village concept. I decided to create two jumbo circus themed cakes. The six tiered main cake stood three and a half feet tall and was lined with lights. The top three tiers illustrated a suede red and white royal carousel. Within the carousel, I added 12 horses and a beautiful 14 karat gold trim. I rotated the colors of the horses to bring Nicole’s vision to life as I knew how important it was to include all of the colors. These colors were sure to exemplify the carnival appearance.  I topped the cake with a 14 karat gold lion given Ashad means lion.
Asahds Birthday Cake
The lower tiers were inspired by the carnivals I attended as a child. I wanted to be sure to include a curtain. The small black tier included Ashad’s name and below it I used fondant to create the dramatic curtain effect that brought me back to my childhood.

FERRIS WHEEL CIRCUS PARTY
Now it was time to move onto the second cake! I wanted to create a cake that symbolized the second most important aspect of a carnival – the great food & snacks! The four tiered cake featured a striped carnival tent, an over sized sugar wafer cone with ice cream & a cherry! The top two tiers included an old fashion bucket of buttered popcorn topped with a sugar sculpted pretzel.
PRETZEL
Once I completed the cakes, I needed to add elements to the table to bring the carnival feel to the next level. These small elements that surrounding the cakes are what brought this village to life. Featuring over 300 cupcakes with elegant clown mask toppers adorned with red feathers, red sparkled candle apple cake pops with black and white stripes dressed with a gold label that read, “Happy Birthday Asahd,” and stripped sugar cookie tents surrounded the 8 foot table on acrylic stands that helped give a 3D effect and was sure to bring this village to life.

This cake took over 3 weeks of prep work, over 100 hours of labor but the end result was a masterpiece, a happy client and a memory for years to come! Happy Birthday Asahd Khaled
